Your body is your foundation.
We often talk about productivity, performance, and results. But hardly do we talk enough about the body that makes all of it possible.
The body does the real work. The thinking, moving, carries all emotions, problem-solving etc.
We have been wonderfully made but enjoying the benefits of a healthy body is not automatic. It requires the same structure, discipline, and intentionality we give to our jobs.
Think about it this way: If your health were a job, would you still be employed?
Clocking in to your health
Just like work, health requires daily and consistent clock-ins:
1. Hospital check-ups:
Not only when something is wrong. Preventive care saves time, money, and pain. Routine checks are a form of respect for your body.
2. Exercise appointments
Movement is not optional; it’s maintenance. You don’t need perfection just consistency. Walks, stretches, workouts. Just commit to something regularly.
3. A healthy meal plan
Food is fuel, not just comfort. What you eat directly affects your energy, mood, focus, and long-term health.
4. Mindfulness
Your mind lives in your body. Rest, reflection, prayer, journaling, and quiet moments help regulate stress and restore balance.
Clocking out of what harms you
Intentional health also means knowing when to log off:
- Bad or careless eating habits
- Constant stress with no recovery
- Negative influences that drain your energy
- Environments that keep you anxious, angry, or exhausted
Burnout, illness, and breakdown comes from years of ignoring small warnings.
Why this is important
You can replace a job. You can change a role. You can switch careers.
But you cannot replace your body and ill health is expensive
I’m certain we all want to be around for our children, grandchildren and possibly their children too; so keep a health scorecard
My point is that
Being intentional about your health cannot be overstated. Treat it with the same seriousness as you treat your career.
Your future self will thank you.
